PM gives away ISCA awards

3 January 2011, Chennai. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh presented the ISCA awards and medals to twenty seven scientists including six Nobel Laureates at the 98th session of the Indian Science Congress.  Some of the various awards presented were:

Asutosh Mookerjee Memorial Award to Prof.R.Ramamurthi, ISRO Scientist, Formerly Vice Chancellor, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati

Srinivasa Ramanujan Birth Centenary Award to Prof. Allam Appa Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada, A.P.

S.N. Bose Birth Centenary Award to Prof. Balram Bhargava, Professor, Dept. of Cardiology, Cardio Thoracic Sciences Center, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi

S.K. Mitra Birth Centenary Award to Dr.T.Madhan Mohan, Adviser, Dept. of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi

Birbal Sahani Birth Centenary Award to Prof. B. Satyanarayana, President, Indian Akademy of Geo Science, Hyderabad

S.S. Bhatnagar Memorial Award to Prof. D.Narayana Rao, Director (Research), S. R. M. University, Tamil Nadu

Vikram Sarabhai Memorial Award to Dr.V.K.Saraswat, Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister, DG-DRDO & DG-ADA

D.S. Kothari Memorial Award to Prof. T.K. Chandrashekar, Director, NISER, Institute of Physics Campus, Bhubaneswar

M.K. Singal Memorial Award to Prof.Parameswaran Sankaran, Institute of Mathematical Sciences, CIT Campus, Chennai

Prof. R.C. Mehrotra Memorial Life Time Achievement Award to Prof.Asutosh Sharma, Institute Chair Professor, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, IIT-Kanpur

Millennium Plaques of Honour:

1. Prof. N.K. Gupta, Vice President, Henry Ford Chair Emeritus Professor, Department of Applied Mechanics, Indian Institute of Technology, Hauz Khas, New Delhi
